Twilight: Breaking Dawn - Part 1 (2011) Review

Breaking Dawn did not disappoint. If anything, it surprised me with elements I did not expect, despite all the hype about it.

Tower Heist (2011) Review

Tower Heist Movie Poster
Before I watched Tower Heist, I read a review about it in a magazine, which basically said that it was an okay comedy, B-. Honestly, that's kind of the impression I got from the movie too.
NO SPOILERS! THANK GOODNESS RIGHT?

In Time (2011) Review

Yesterday, I had the opportunity to watch In Time since I didn't have school.
Let me just say that this was not my first choice, but I did want to watch it nonetheless. I also had something to think about before watching it and it was what my sister told me: "My friend watched it and said that it was a good concept but it was poorly executed". I'll be the judge of that.

2.13 The First Secret (Pretty Little Liars: List of A)

Pretty Little Liars: List of A
Before we get started, let me point out to you that this episode is the Halloween special and also the thirteenth episode of the season. Creepy huh?

Anyway, before you read any further, this IS NOT a recap. This post is my theory of who "A" is NOT and it contains spoilers to both the show and the books.

The Lying Game: Pilot [Review and Comparison to the Book]

Wow. I've got to admit, the t.v. adaption of The Lying Game (book by Sara Shepard) was not what I expected.
Uh, yea. You've got to have read the book and watched this episode to understand the whole article, but you don't have to.

Cyberbu//y [Review]

Cyberbully is ABC Family's newest original movie. It stars Emily Osment as Taylor Hillridge, a girl who, on her seventeenth birthday, receives a laptop from her mom. Excited about her new independence, her naive ways lead her to become a victim of online bullying.
I personally think it's great to spread the message about this epidemic, but honestly. this movie did not make the cut.
Warning: Spoilers below! And you may not understand it if you haven't seen it.

My solution to finding your favorite showtimes.

I don't know about you, but I find scrolling through the info or guide on my TV to find specific shows or episodes really annoying.

Picture this: Your thumb is sore and the menu on your TV screen doesn't seem to scroll fast enough. You're not sure if there is a new episode of your favorite TV show playing tonight, so you are trying to find it on the guide. You spend an eternity pressing the arrows to find the showtime, only to discover that your show isn't playing tonight. If only there was an easier way to see all of your favorite showtimes gathered in one easy to read place.
Note: Sorry about the lack of posts these past few weeks, my router was being stupid. It happens often.

Hanna [Review]

I finally watched the movie that I had planned to watch last week: Hanna (starring Saoirse Ronan, a very beautiful and talented girl. I mean, she eyes are so blue!). I went into the theatre with high expectations and didn’t come out disappointed at all. I was actually blown away.
Warning: No spoilers, but the post would be a lot less confusing/general if you already watched the movie.

Red Riding Hood [Review]

Movie poster
Last Sunday I went to see Red Riding Hood at a 3-story theater in San Francisco. I went because not only did I want to see it, my mom wanted to see it as well. What a mistake that was.
May contain hints because I don't think it can be considered as a spoiler. Read at your own risk.

Pretty Little Liars: For Whom the Bell Tolls [Recap]

The girls confront Jenna
More plot twists, near death experiences, and a dramatic ending makes this season finale episode one of the best.
Warning: If you have not yet watched the previous episode, you will not understand this recap (obviously). Also, a recap means SPOILERS!

The Adjustment Bureau [Review]

On Saturday, I went to see the Adjustment Bureau starring Matt Damon and Emily Blunt. What I got was what I expected: a cheesy and predictable love story.

The trailer said it all. A man who stumbles upon the "Adjustment Bureau", an organization that dedicates itself on keeping people's predeclared fate on track, is told not to chase after the girl of his dreams.

The movie concept was very original, from what I know about movies. But it seemed like it was trying to ride on the hype of Inception, in the sense that both are mind boggling and challenge you to think. The actors were perfect though, very convincing.

The movie itself wasn't very good though, as I said, the whole plot was pretty predictable. Aside from that, it seemed a little short and the ending felt rushed. Their problems were concluded much too quickly and easily. The action scenes were cool to watch, but there weren't many of them. Besides, the only "action" is chasing and running through magic doors.

Near the end of the movie, one of the characters says "Assume everyone with a hat is a threat." or something like that. I couldn't help but think that this movie is telling the audience that well, everyone with a hat is part of the Adjustment Bureau. I'm pretty positive that almost everyone walking out of the theater became paranoid of hat wearing people for at least the rest of the day.

Overall, it was okay, that's really all I can say about it. If you're not sure about watching it in theaters, I would say it's not worth it. I rate it a C+, or average.

It's 6 hours 'till bedtime, I say watch, don't wait.

Glee: Comeback [Review]

As the thirteenth episode in the second season, I really enjoyed it.

Warning: Spoilers below

Sure, the storyline flowed, the dialog was brilliant and Sue's usual antics and tantrums were hilarious to watch, but I want to focus on the music in this episode.

I laughed when I saw the rendition of Justin Bieber's "Baby" and "Somebody to Love". The Glee boy's outfits were just funny, how they copied Bieber's hair and style. Although I'm not personally a fan of his music, I have to say that the performance was at least pleasant and funny.

"I Know What Boys Like" by The Waitresses was covered by Lauren Zizes played by Ashley Fink. Honestly, I didn't like her singing. It reminded my of my sister's boring and horrible monotone voice. I noticed that they tried to cover it by using good sounding background singers. It didn't work. UPDATE: Now that I've heard the original version of this song, I can now officially say that Glee's version is WAY better. See for yourself.

Finally, "Sing" by My Chemical Romance was played and let me just say first, that I do not like that band. My sister is obsessed with it and plays their CD everyday. For me, that's really annoying and I just can't help but hate it. However, somehow listening to Glee's version made it sound more appealing (to me, anyway). It's just catchy when they sing it, I don't know. I was confused by their outfits though; "Why are they dressed like lumberjacks?" My sister even questioned it.

Anyway, it was a pretty good episode overall, I recommend that you watch it if you haven't already.

It's 7 minutes past bedtime, I say watch, don't wait.

Are there too many clichés?

Today, I was watching TV and I noticed that the family on the show I was watching was familiar. I have never seen the show before, but it was a concept that wasn't new; a wacky younger brother, a smart sarcastic middle sister, and a dim-witted older sister. Not all TV shows are exactly like this but most family television programs usually have at least one of these characters, if not all.

Glee: The Sue Sylvester Shuffle [Review]

Sunday's episode of Glee was pretty awesome. Not only did it feature good music, but it also had great choreography and plot as you would expect from this show.
Warning: This post may contain spoilers.

The Big Bang Theory: The Thespian Catalyst [Recap]

I always enjoy watching The Big Bang Theory for it's humor and wacky characters, and this week is no different.
Warning: There are spoilers below. Also, if you have not watched the show before you may be confused.

ANNOUNCEMENT: 2/2/11 - 2/4/11

Due to the holidays (Chinese New Year) and my newest (unrelated to this blog) project, I won't be able to post from 2/2/11 to 2/4/11, or until Friday.

Even though I won't be here, my motto is still "watch, don't wait."

Being Human: Some Thing to Watch Over Me [Review]

The third episode of Being Human last night on th SyFy channel was interesting.
I've noticed that at the end of every episode (or maybe just this one) most issues are resolved. I'm not talking about their long term problems like being a ghost, or having a narrow minded vampire "family". I'm talking about the problems that appear and gets solved within each episode.

Television Madness: Why watch TV?

The average American watches more than 4 hours of TV each day. In a 65 year life, that's 9 years. Why do kids keep watching TV if statistics show that it can cause lower grades, cause you to read less, cause you to exercise less and be overweight?

Does Mean Girls 2 live up to it's predecessor? [Review]

When I heard about Mean Girls 2, I was really excited to watch it. I had watched and loved the first Mean Girls; Lindsey Lohan's performance as a unprepared-for-high-school 16-year-old-turned-popular was perfect. With the title of the new movie being Mean Girls 2, I expected an awesome movie with a great plot, dialog, and actors. What I witnessed, however, was something that made me question whether this movie was worthy of being part of the Mean Girls franchise or not.

Warning: This post contains spoilers.
